Being a third generation land professional, and raised in South Louisiana and West Texas, Charles was born to work in the oil and gas industry. After completing his degree in Accounting from Louisiana State University and A&M College in 1999, Charles began his career as a contract landman. In the years since, he has become a Certified Professional Landman, maturing into a successful and respected project manager and, more recently, a partner at Penterra Services.
Charles’ accounting background has given him a unique perspective on the oil and gas industry, making him a meticulous and a highly effective leasing agent, personnel manager, and title analyst. His accessibility has enabled him to build long-lasting relationships with both clients and landowners, having leased over 100,000 acres in Louisiana alone. Additionally, Charles has acquired and managed multiple projects in numerous states, and is confident with both conventional and unconventional shale play. Given his diverse career background, Charles can ably handle the preparation of abstracts of title, mineral histories, title research, lease checks, state lands research, conservation research, title curative, 3-D seismic acquisition and surface and right-of-way acquisition.
Charles is a member of the American Association of Professional Landmen and the Lafayette Associations of Petroleum Landmen.
Charles and his wife, Megan, are members of St. Mary’s Church. In his spare time, Charles enjoys playing golf, exercising, biking, and going duck and deer hunting.
A Certified Professional Landman, David received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Louisiana State University and A&M College in 1987 before earning his Master of Science degree in Environmental Studies in 1992. His education and extensive professional experience managing conventional and non-conventional land prospects for the oil and gas industry allow this consummate landman to bring a distinctive set of skills to the table. Drawing from over 20 years of project management, David has a relatable perspective on the unique objectives and demands required by differing prospects and on attaining the various goals set by his clients.
David prides himself on his aptitude for directing a diverse group of people, including title attorneys, surveyors, state agencies, land owners, and contractors toward a common goal. David’s attention to detail and aptitude for creating outstanding client relationships motivate him to provide relevant prospect reports, schedules, spreadsheets, maps, and other documentation customized to each client’s unique needs.
David belongs to a number of professional associations, including the American Association of Professional Landmen, the Lafayette Associations of Professional Landmen, the Oklahoma City Association of Professional Landmen, the Houston Association of Professional Landmen, and the Texas Real Estate Commission.
David and his wife, Shoney, are the proud parents of twins, Louis and Alaina. When he’s not attending his children’s school activities, David enjoys exercising, playing golf, going to LSU games, and traveling with his family.
A consummate landman with membership in several professional organizations, Jim has over 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Jim consistently demonstrates expert skill in all facets of land work, including surface and mineral title, title curative and state land research, conducting successful negotiations, and fostering positive relationships with clients and a wide range of industry personnel.
Jim excels at researching and coordinating vast public records, determining mineral and surface ownership, conducting title curative, and interacting with title attorneys. Our clients appreciate Jim’s dedication to providing accurate and timely results that help push their projects toward full development.
Jim is a member of several professional associations, including the American Association of Professional Landmen, the Lafayette Associations of Professional Landmen, and the Oklahoma City Association of Professional Landmen.
An avid New Orleans Saints fan, Jim also enjoys golfing, kayaking, and attending his two sons’ soccer and basketball games.
A lifelong Oklahoma resident and former college athlete, Kyle earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 2004 and his Masters of Education in 2006 from the University of Central Oklahoma. Kyle serves as the managing partner of Penterra Services’s Edmond, OK office.
With six years of in-house landman experience at Chesapeake Energy Corporation and SandRidge Energy, Inc., Kyle possesses a unique perspective on land services operations, including an intimate knowledge of the demands, pressures, and expectations of corporate upper management. Kyle prides himself on his ability to manage multiple prospects from the beginning stages through full development. He brings an exceptional facility with joint operating agreements, leasing deals, due diligence projects, research, and managing budgetary concerns to the Penterra Services Team.
Kyle belongs to a number of professional associations, including the American Association of Professional Landmen, the Oklahoma City Association of Professional Landmen, Ark-La-Tex Association of Petroleum Landmen, and the Kansas Corporation Commission Subcommittee. Kyle is also available for Oklahoma Corporation Commission expert witness testimony.
Kyle and his wife, Stephanie, are the proud parents of twin girls, Campbell and Sophie, and a son, Burke. Kyle sincerely hopes that one day he will have the free time to enjoy golf again.
Mark graduated from the Louisiana State University and A&M College in 1991. Mark ably balances a detail-oriented outlook on land services with the big picture thinking necessary for seeing large projects through to completion.
Mark derives a great deal of satisfaction from his ability to establish successful, professional networks of clients, industry personnel, oil and gas attorneys, surveyors, and contract landmen throughout the United States. Drawing from his expertise in all aspects of prospect management, Mark has helped other companies streamline their organization and improve their business practices.
Mark belongs to several professional associations, including the American Association of Professional Landmen and the Oklahoma City Association of Professional Landmen.
Born and raised on the family farm in central Oklahoma, John has a unique understanding and appreciation of the oil and gas industry. His personal perspectives of exploration at a local level inspires him to promote a positive image within the industry and community on behalf of Penterra and its clients. John serves as project lead for Penterra’s eastern United States operations.
John is a 2001 graduate of Oklahoma State University, earning his degree in Business Administration. He began his career at Chesapeake Energy where he began to cultivate his passion professionally for the oil and gas industry, while working on multiple projects in several states including Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Oklahoma. His demanding schedule and developed management skills make him highly effective in both the advancement and completion of projects.
He currently manages a diverse group of attorneys and landmen in a variety of task associated with the Marcellus and Utica plays, including abstracting, leasing, title curative, and due diligence.
John is a member of the American Association of Professional Landmen and the Oklahoma City Association of Professional Landmen.
John and his wife, Beth, are the proud parents of three very active children that keep them busy in their spare time. When John does have a chance to relax, he enjoys golfing, hunting, and cheering on his Cowboys.
